Firefox If you’re a Firefox user, and you haven’t tried out Firefox 3 yet, you’re missing out on some genuinely awesome features. I’ve been testing it since the early beta bits were available, but I think that the recently released RC2 build is stable enough for anyone to use.

If you’re still hesitant, watch this screencast by Mozilla’s Mike Beltzner, in which he introduces some of the major new features; you’re bound to be impressed.

If I had to pick my favorite feature, it would have to be the revamped address bar (check out the screencast to see it in action), but I also like the integrated add-on manager, and pause/resume support in the new download manager.

Vista users – install the Glasser extension to enable the Aero Glass effect on the browser chrome. Now you’ve got a browser that fits in much better, visually, with the rest of the system. :)

I am a big fan of Firefox 3. Faster than the original, and with less bugs. Now if I could only get my clients to use it rather than IE 7 or 8.
  • Wes: It's been a while since the last Twessenger update, but since I've been getting lots of requests, I have just started working on a new version today. Details coming shortly. :)

    Hi Kunal,

Could you possibly add an update to Twessenger that optionally filtered out twitter messages that begin with @ or alternatively, would you be willing to share the source code with me so I could make such an update myself?

Any such updates would be provided to you as I wouldn't wish to claim any credit for the fantastic job you've already done. I simply want to do this for my own benefit.

    Thanks,

    Wesley
  • I had to get used to the address bar but yeah, it's really great. One thing that annoys me (as with any version change) is that a lot of my extensions don't work. I bypassed the version checking and some stuff (like gears) still won't work. It all comes with time I guess :)

A thing that's really nice on the Mac build is that it looks like a native mac. It used to look like a Windows/agnostic window and never really fit in (and was made fun of by the other apps). But good to see the firefox team making this happen!
  • The new address bar has become my new best friend, it's usefulness makes me wonder why the hell it wasn't ever done before. I'm sure it will be copied across into the other browsers as soon as it gets to the point where they can all do so without the Fx users moaning about it :P

The current release is my default browser, I've toyed with using browsers other than Safari on and off for years, yet none have lasted this long as default.
